ETOWAH, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Cameron Dugger fired a three-under par 69 as the Pioneers shot an opening round 285 and have the lead at the Etowah Intercollegiate.  The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the Etowah Valley Golf Resort and hosted by Brevard College.

Tusculum has a four-shot lead over second place Mars Hill (289).  Brevard is third with 293, while King and Erskine B are tied for fourth place at 300.  Virginia-Wise is sixth with 301, followed by Erskine (307), Brevard B (309) and Christian Brothers (321).

Dugger fired his lowest round as a Pioneer and is one shot out of the lead currently held by Adam Lumley of Mars Hill with a four-under par 68.

Senior Taylor Smith shot a two-under par 70 and is tied for fourth place, while junior newcomer David Whinery is tied for sixth place with 71.  Senior Chris Hutson carded a 75 and is tied for 15^th place, while rookie Anthony Bolden rounded out the Tusculum scoring with an 85 (45^th).

The final round of the tournament will be played Tuesday on the par-72, 6,892-yard layout.
