Tusculum receiving votes in Bushnell Golfweek Division II Poll

NORMAN, Okla. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team is receiving votes in this week's Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll. The Pioneers received eight points and are one of four South Atlantic Conference teams listed in this week's poll (No. 18 Carson-Newman, No. 20 Lincoln Memorial, Coker - receiving votes).

The Pioneers have recorded wins in four of their seven events this season, including last week's Tusculum Invitational.

Saint Leo is once again the top ranked team in the country with 457 points and six first-place votes. Chico State is one point behind with 456 points and 10 first-place nods. Nova Southeastern is third, followed by West Florida, Lynn, Florida Southern, Barry, CSU Monterey Bay, USC Aiken and Central Missouri to comprise the top-10.

Flagler is 11th, followed by Lee, Georgia Southwestern, Simon Fraser, West Georgia, North Alabama, Missouri-St. Louis, Carson-Newman, CSU San Marcos, Lincoln Memorial, Florida Tech, Western New Mexico, Colorado-Colorado Springs, Central Oklahoma and Sonoma State.

Leading the Pioneers this season is All-Region and All-SAC standout Brad Hawkins. The Knoxville, Tennessee senior leads the nation with his 69.24 scoring average, which includes seven top-10 finishes, including six in the top-five and medalist honors at the State Farm Intercollegiate and the Pioneer Classic.

Senior teammate Nick Forsberg is second on the team with his 72.76 scoring average, which is currently sixth in the league and 61st in the country.

Tusculum returns to action this Sunday and Monday as the Pioneers compete in the Hargett Memorial in Monroe, North Carolina. Tusculum is the defending champion of this event.
