Pioneers release men's golf schedule

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team has announced its 2016-2017 schedule according to head coach Bob Dibble. 
 
Dibble, who is entering his 27th season at Tusculum, returns four lettermen from last year's squad that captured five tournament titles.

TC will play in 10 events, culminating with the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Championship in the spring.  This year's schedule also includes two home tournaments for the Pioneers.

Tusculum opens the fall campaign on Sep. 12-13 at the Kiawah Island Invitational, hosted by USC Aiken.  This year's event will be held at Osprey Point Golf Club for a second straight year.  The Pioneers finished eight at last year's tournament posting a team score of 590.

TC travels to Etowah, North Carolina for the Etowah Fall Challenge, hosted by Brevard College.  The Pioneers shot 297 to finish runner-up to the host Tornados at last spring's event.  Etowah was also the site of last year's SAC Championship.

TC hosts the 11th annual Tusculum Fall Classic at Link Hills Country Club on Sep. 26-27.  The Pioneers finished won last year's event with a 27-hole score of 418 (-6) in the weather-abbreviated event.  Tusculum has won the Fall Classic five times in its 10-year history (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2016).

On Oct. 10-11, Tusculum travels to Tazewell, Tennessee and the State Farm Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial University at Woodlake Golf Club.  The Pioneers finished fourth last year for a second straight season as Tusculum posted a 54-hole score of 871. TC has placed fourth or better at LMU's fall event for ninth consecutive years.

Tusculum makes the short trek to Morristown, Tennessee for the Walters State Fall Classic on Oct. 17-18.  The Pioneers have won this tournament three times in the last four seasons, including last year with a team score of 591.

Tusculum opens the spring portion of the schedule Feb. 27-28 at the Richard Rendleman Invitational.  The event is being held at the Country Club of Salisbury (N.C.) and hosted by Catawba College.  TC carded a two-day team score of 610 at last year's event to finish sixth.

On Mar. 13-14, Tusculum will travel to Monroe, North Carolina for the Hargett Memorial Invitational, hosted by Wingate University.  The Pioneers finished 11th at last year's event.

The Pioneers host the 24th annual Tusculum Invitational on Mar. 25-26 at Link Hills.  Tusculum shot a team scored of 577 to win the TC Invitational for a fourth time in the last six years and eighth title overall (1995, 1997, 1998, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016).

Tusculum closes out the regular-season Apr. 3-4 at the Tennessee River Rumble in Lenoir City, Tennessee.  The event is hosted by Lincoln Memorial at the Tennessee National Golf Club.

The Pioneers return to Salisbury on Apr. 23-25 at the 2017 SAC Championship, hosted by Catawba.  The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held at the Country Club of Salisbury.  TC finished 10th at last year's championship, one year removed from winning its first SAC title in 2015.

The NCAA II Super Regional will be held at Muscle Shoals, Alabama on May 8-10 and hosted by the University of North Alabama.  The NCAA National Championship will be decided May 22-26 in Kissimmee, Florida.
