Tusculum earns bid to NCAA Men's Golf Super Regional

INDIANAPOLIS --- The seeding for the 2015 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship has been announced and Tusculum College will be competing at the South/Southeast Super Regional in Dade City, Florida. The three-day, 54-hole event will be held at the Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club, May 4-6, and hosted by Saint Leo University.

Tusculum is making its inaugural NCAA postseason appearance as the Pioneers punched their ticket by winning this week's South Atlantic Conference Championship and earning the league's automatic bid.

Flagler College, champions of the Peach Belt Conference, is the top-seed in the Southeast Region. USC Aiken, Wingate University, Columbus State University and Georgia Southeastern University are seed 2nd through 5th and received at-large bids to the post season. Limestone College won the Conference Carolinas championship and is the No. 6 seed. North Greenville University is eighth, followed by Erskine College, Georgia College and Tusculum to round out the top-10.

A total 80 teams and 32 individuals have been selected across the nation and will participate in regional competition.

The NCAA II National Championship will be held May 18-22 in Conover, North Carolina and held at Rock Barn Golf and Spa and hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Tusculum is enjoying one of its best season's in program history. The Pioneers have won a school single-season record five tournaments, including four in the spring. Tusculum golfers have also captured medalist honors on four occasions. Junior Brad Hawkins won individual titles at the Tusculum Fall Classic and the Walters State Fall Classic. Senior Warren Cheney finished first at the Etowah Spring Challenge, while junior Nick Forsberg led wire-to-wire in at the SAC Championship earlier this week.
