Tusculum in ninth place at Tennessee River Rumble

LOUDON, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team fired an opening round 320 and is in ninth place after day one action of Tennessee River Rumble Intercollegiate. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the Tennessee National Golf Course.

Tusculum junior Brad Hawkins was the top Pioneer on the day with his 77, which is good enough for 14th place. Senior Warren Cheney is 20th with his 78, while sophomore Taylor Smith carded an 81 and is tied for 38th place. Junior Nick Forsberg rounded out the scoring for Tusculum with his 84 (T55th).

Host Lincoln Memorial has the first round lead at 304, three shots ahead of second place Catawba. Brevard is third with 310, while Dalton State, Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial B are in a three-way tie for fourth place. Washburn is seventh with 313, while Hillsdale (317), Tusculum (320) and Walters State (325) comprise the top-10.

Taylor University is 11th with 327, followed by Lincoln Memorial C (335), Anderson (337), Findlay (341) and Lincoln Memorial D (347).

LMU's Braden Galyon and Catawba's Matt Hardman both shot rounds of 70 and share the opening round lead.

The final round of the 15-team event is slated for Tuesday.
