Tusculum men shoot 334 to open Rendlemen Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. --- Tusculum College freshman Chris Hutson posted an opening day 81 following first round action of the 2014 Richard Rendleman Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole event is hosted by Catawba College and held at the par-71, 6,665-yard Country Club of Salisbury.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 334 and are in 17th place.

Limestone fired an opening day 305 and leads by three shots over second place Queens University of Charlotte (308). UNC Pembroke and Lenoir-Rhyne are tied for third place with 309. Coker is fifth with 311, followed by King (315), Erskine (316), Carson-Newman (317), Lincoln Memorial (318), Belmont Abbey (320), North Greenville (320), Wingate (321), Brevard (322), Catawba, Pfeiffer (327), Anderson (332), Tusculum and Post University (340).

Alex Weare of Queens posted an even-par 71 and leads by one shot over Limestone's Matt Mullarkey, who posted a 72 on Monday.

Hutson is tied for 43rd place with his 81, while Coleman Glick posted an 83 and is tied for 61st place. Nick Forsberg is tied for 68th place with 84, followed by Warren Cheney with 86 (77th) and Jake Mendenhall with 88 (T82nd).

The final round of the Rendleman Invitational will be held on Tuesday.
