ORANGE PARK, Fla. --- Tusculum's Coleman Glick posted rounds of 70 and 71 on Monday for a one-under par total of 141 and is tied for fourth place after day one action of the 2014 Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate. The Pioneers carded team scores of 292 and 287 for 579 and are in third place in the 16-team field.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the Fleming Island Golf Club.
Lincoln Memorial has the 36-hole lead with 568, eight strokes ahead of second place Flagler (576) and 11 shots in front of Tusculum. UNC Pembroke is fourth with 585 while Belmont Abbey and Newberry are tied for fifth place with 590.
Wingate and Cape Fear each shot 593 and are tied for seventh place. Carson-Newman is ninth with 594, followed by Coker (595), King (600), Montevallo (601), Limestone (603), Georgia Southwestern (603), Catawba (606) and Anderson (608)
Glick opened the day with a one-under par 70 in a round that included three birdies, including two of his last three holes. He followed that with an even-par 71 as he carded three birdies again and shot one-under for his last nine holes. His 141 has him seven shots out of the lead, held by LMU's Tre' Mullins, who posted 69-65=134 (-8).
Sophomore Nick Forsberg posted a 73 to start Monday's action, including a birdie on his second hole of the day. He would three holes in his round, but closed out his 73 with six consecutive pars to give him a 36-hole score of 147 and is tied for 14sth.
Senior Dakota Norton tallied a 76 in his opening round, but bounced back with an even par 71, which included three birdies and has him tied for 21st place with 147.
Junior Warren Cheney posted rounds of 76 and 75 for his 151 and is tied for 41st place. Freshman Taylor Smith, playing in his first Tusculum event, is tied for 44th place with 152, including an opening round 73.
The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday morning at the 6,688-yard, par-71 layout.
