GREENEVILLE, Tenn.

--- Taylor Smith has announced he will be transferring to Tusculum College and play golf for the Pioneers announced TC men's coach Bob Dibble.

Smith, a native of Gray, Tenn., joins the Tusculum program immediately after attending Milligan College this past fall. Smith played his prep golf at Daniel Boone High School, where he was coached by Scott Martin. He qualified for the TSSAA State Tournament as a junior and finished third earlier that season at the Regional Championship. He is also a two-time runner-up at the Farmers and Miners Invitational.

"Taylor is very good athlete and a hard worker, who should fit in very well with our program. We are glad to have him with us," said Dibble.

Smith also shined on the prep diamond for the Trailblazers. As a junior, he recorded a .439 batting average with 19 doubles, six home runs and 35 RBI. He earned 2012 All-Conference honors and was named to the District All-Tournament team that season. He also garnered All-State second team and All-Region accolades in 2012.

Taylor is the son of Charles and Rita Smith. Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference. Tusculum, the oldest college in the State of Tennessee, sponsors 16 intercollegiate sports, including men's lacrosse that will be competing as a varsity this year, and women's lacrosse, which begins competition during the 2014-2015 academic year.

Tusculum, the 28th oldest college in the nation, is a liberal arts institution committed to providing a liberal arts education in a Judeo-Christian and civic arts environment, with pathways for career preparation, personal development and civic engagement. Approximately twenty-one hundred students are enrolled on the main campus in Greeneville and three off-site locations in East Tennessee. The academic programs for both traditional-aged students and working adults served through the Graduate and Professional Studies program are delivered using focused calendars whereby students enroll in one course at a time.
