TAZEWELL, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team posted a two-day score of 571 (-5) to finish in third place at the 2013 State Farm Intercollegiate. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was hosted by Lincoln Memorial University and held at the par-72 Woodlake Golf Club.

LMU captured team championship honors with a nine-under par total of 567, including Tuesday's final round 280 (-8) to win by two shots over runner-up Mars Hill University (284-285=569).

Mars Hill's Adam Lumley won medalist honors with his two-day score of 69-70=139 (-5), one shot better than a quartet of players at -4, including Tusculum's Warren Cheney and Dakota Norton. Cheney followed Monday's 68 with a 72 on Tuesday. Norton shot a personal collegiate best three-under par 69, following yesterday's 71. Joining the TC duo at 140 is Andrew Hall of Walters State and LMU's Rand Wasson.

Tusculum sophomore Nick Forsberg tied for 10th play with 71-72=143 (-1), while TC rookie Chris Hutson finished with 72-71=143, playing as an individual competitor. Junior Coleman Glick finished 28th with 75-74=149, while junior Leif Ratliff rounded out the scoring with 74-79=153 (T40th).

Walters State made the strongest move up the leader-board on Tuesday with 573, including a final round 280. Brevard was fifth with 585, followed by Anderson (593), Catawba (596), Pfeiffer (599), Georgia Southwestern (607), LMU White (617) and LMU Blue (633).

Tusculum 571 total is the eighth lowest 36-hole score in program history.

Tusculum returns to action next week as the Pioneers travel to nearby Morristown for the Walters State Fall Classic. TC is the defending champion, while Cheney is slated to defend his individual title from a year ago.
