TAZEWELL, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team fired an opening day 284 as the Pioneers are tied for the lead at the 2013 State Farm Intercollegiate, held at the par-72 Woodlake Golf Club.
Tusculum is tied for with Mars Hill, while tournament host Lincoln Memorial is third with 287.
TC junior Warren Cheney carded a four-under par 68 and shares the first round lead with Andrew Hall of Walters State. Senior Dakota Norton and sophomore Nick Forsberg each posted a one-under par 71 and are tied for seventh place. Leif Ratliff posted a 74 and is tied for 28th place, while junior Coleman Glick is 34th following his 75. TC rookie Chris Hutson, playing as an individual competitor, carded 72 and is tied for 11th place.
Walters State is fourth in the team competition with 293, followed by Catawba (294), Brevard (297), Anderson (297), Pfeiffer (299), Georgia Southwestern (303), LMU Gray (304), LMU White (307) and LMU Blue (321).
The final round will be played on Tuesday at Woodlake.
