The Tusculum College men's golf team wrapped up the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship with a fifth-place finish on Tuesday at the Sevierville Golf Club's River Course.

The Pioneers showed consistency through the three-day event, shooting 307 on Tuesday after recording rounds of 307 on Sunday and 306 on Monday. Tusculum's team score of 922 was six strokes behind fourth-place Carson-Newman (916) and 12 shots in back of third-place Lenoir-Rhyne (910).

Senior Derek Cantrell was the top finisher for the Pioneers with a 54-hole score of 228, good for a tie for 11th place. Cantrell shot a 78 on Tuesday and was two shots back of 10th place and the final All-Tournament position.

Freshman Nick Forsberg matched his Monday score with a round of 76 on Tuesday, and completed the tournament in a tie for 22nd place with a score of 232. Junior Dakota Norton carded a 78 in the final round and wrapped up tournament play with a score of 234, putting him in a tie for 28th place.

Sophomore Warren Cheney had his best round of the week on Tuesday, shooting a team-best 75 and finishing competition at 235, tied for 30th place overall. Senior Nick York came home with an 83 in the final round and was tied for 32nd place overall at 239.

Lincoln Memorial University won the team title with a score of 873, 33 strokes ahead of runner-up Wingate (906). The Raisplitters' Connor Froning completed a wire-to-wire win with a 73 on Tuesday, giving him a score of 209 and a four-shot victory over Newberry's Chandler Gruenemeier. Froning's score was tied for the second-best in tournament history, just one shot off the record.
