SALISBURY, N.C. --- Tusculum's Derek Cantrell fired a final round 72 to finish with a two-day 148 to tie for 17th place at the 2013 Richard Rendleman Invitational, which is being held this week at the Country Club of Salisbury.

Cantrell, playing as an individual competitor, was the top Pioneer finisher during the two-day, 36-hole tournament being contested on the 6,665-yard, par-71 layout.

As a team, the Pioneers finished 17th with 622, including Tuesday's final round 313.

Belmont Abbey rallied from a 13-shot deficit to post 583, including a final day 287 to win the team title. The Crusaders finished seven strokes ahead of runner-up USC Aiken (590), led by tournament medalist Adam Hedges, who shot 74-67=141, one shot better than Gavin Hay (Carson-Newman) and John Frisby (Belmont Abbey).

Lenoir-Rhyne finished third with 592, while host Catawba, North Greenville and Carson-Newman finished in a three-way tie for fourth place with 595. King placed seventh with 597, followed by Anderson (598), UNC Pembroke (599), Queens University of Charlotte (603), Erskine (603), Lincoln Memorial (604), Wingate (609), Pfeiffer (611), Limestone (618), Bluefield State (618) and Tusculum.

Nick Forsberg finished tied for 35th with 76-75=151, while Dakota Norton posted a 78-77=155 to place 57th. Nick York carded a 75-83=158 to tie for 71st place, while Warren Cheney tallied 81-78=159 to finish 76th. Coleman Click rounded out the scoring with 80-83=163 to place 85th.

The Pioneers return to action this weekend (March 9-10) when they host the 20th annual Tusculum Invitational at Link Hills Country Club. Tusculum is the two-time defending champion of the event and has won it six times in the 19-year history of the tournament.
