GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Lincoln Memorial men's golf team posted a two-day 562 to repeat as champions of the Tusculum Fall Classic, held this week at Link Hills Country Club.

The Railsplitters posted a final day 279 as LMU had three golfers finish in the top-five, including tournament medalist Connor Froning, who finished with 67-69=136 (-6).

Host Tusculum shot a school-record 278 to post a 36-hole tally of 570 to finish eight shots behind LMU. Lenoir-Rhyne was third with 575, while Tennessee Wesleyan, UNC Pembroke and North Greenville finished in a three-way tie for fourth place at 585. Walters State was seventh with 588 and USC Lancaster was eighth at 595. The Tusculum Black team finished ninth with 601, followed by Catawba (603), Mars Hill (604) and Spartanburg Methodist (615).

Lenoir-Rhyne's John White finished second with back-to-back rounds of 69 to shoot 138 (-4). Tusculum's Nick York and LMU's Rand Wasson finished tied for third place with 139 (-3). York fired a final round 67, including a 32 on his outward nine. Wasson tied a TC Classic record with his five-under par 66, including a 30 on his first nine holes. He matches records for lowest 18-hole score and lowest second round posting. Four players finished tied for fifth place at 141, including Josh Wheeler (Tennessee Wesleyan), Jamie Chapman (LMU), Josh Hopwood (North Greenville) and Parker Houston (UNC Pembroke). Hopwood earned the fifth and final spot on the All-Tournament team via a playoff (scorecard).

Tusculum's Dakota Norton finished tied for ninth place with 72-70=142, along with Lenoir-Rhyne's David Donovan (74-68=142).

TC freshman Nick Forsberg carded his lowest round of his young collegiate career with one-under 70, highlighted by his hole-in-one on the par-three, 16th hole. It was his first-ever ace for the Tusculum rookie.

Tusculum's Coleman Glick tied for 17th place with 75-71=146, while Warren Cheney rounded out the TC scoring with 77-73=150. Cheney birdied three of his final four holes to post the 73 on Tuesday.

For Tusculum Black, David Talley finished in sole possession of 12th place with 144, including a final round 68, that included eight birdies on the day. Leif Ratliff tied for 13th place with 72-73=145 for TC Black. Derek Cantrell finished 21st with 72-75=147, while Samuel Davis carded 81-84=165 to finish 64th.

Tusculum's 278, breaks the previous record of 279 posted in the final round of the 2010 Tusculum Fall Classic. TC's 570 matches the score its posted at last year's Classic and is tied for the fifth lowest 36-hole score in school history.

In conjunction with the women's tournament that is held in conjunction with the men's event, a combined championship is awarded to the school with the lowest aggregate combined score by its men and women's teams. LMU claimed its third straight combined title with 1177, edging out the Pioneers by seven shots (1184). UNC Pembroke was third with 1200, followed by North Greenville (1241), Catawba (1258), Mars Hill (1338) and Spartanburg Methodist.

Tusculum will be in action again at the LMU Fall Invitational, Oct. 15-16 in Pineville, Ky.
