Tusculum Men's golf in 15th after day one of Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team posted an opening round 312 and is in 15th place at the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate in the season opener. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held on the 6,994-yard, par 72 River Course at the Sevierville Golf Club.

Freshman Nick Forsberg recorded the best score of the day for the Pioneers as he shot a 76 in his collegiate debut and is tied for 31st place. Leif Ratliff posted a 78 and is tied for 45th, while Nick York and Dakota Norton each carded a 79 and are tied for 55th. David Talley shot 86 and is in 80th place to round out the Tusculum scoring.

Columbus State and Belmont Abbey each fired opening rounds of 290 to pace the field. Clayton State is third with 91, while Lenoir-Rhyne, King and Catawba are in a three-way tie for fourth place with 298. Brevard is seventh with 300, followed by Carson-Newman (301), North Georgia (303), Lincoln Memorial (305), Newberry (306), Wingate (307), Shorter (311), Limestone (311) and Tusculum.

The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday.
