Tusculum shoots 319 at Rendleman, Pioneers in 18th

SALISBURY, N.C. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team posted a first round score of 319 and is in 18th place after day one of the 2012 Richard Rendleman Invitational, played at the par 71, 6,665-yard Country Club of Salisbury.

Tusculum's Nick York shot a 78 on Monday and is tied for 44th place. Justin Harvey is 52nd with his 79, including a hole-in-one on the par 3, 14th hole. David Talley carded an 80 and is tied for 60th, while Derek Cantrell (82 - 74th) and Matt Poff (89 - 88th) round out the scoring for the Pioneers.

UNC Pembroke leads the team competition with its 291 as the Braves have four-shot advantage over second place Lincoln Memorial (295). Pfeiffer and Carson-Newman are tied for third place with 296, while Barton is fifth with 298. Lenoir-Rhyne is sixth with 300, followed by Queens University of Charlotte (304), King (305), Belmont Abbey (306), Wingate (307), host Catawba (310), Catawba "B" (314), Limestone (315), Anderson (315), Bluefield State (317), Erskine (318), North Greenville (318) and Tusculum.

Alex Weare of Queens leads the pack for medalist honors with his two-under par 69, one shot ahead of Barton's Daniel Claytor and Liam Ashby of Carson-Newman.
