Former Pioneer Golfer Blaine Lawson Killed in Car Accident

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College family is mourning the passing of former Pioneer men's golfer Blaine Lawson, who was killed in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon in Greene County.

Lawson's vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer, which pulled into the path of his car according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Lawson, 27, was a member of the Tusculum golf team from 2001-03.

"Blaine was a fine young man and we are all saddened by this tragic news," said Tusculum golf coach Bob Dibble. "We all loved Blaine very much and the Tusculum family extends its deepest sympathy to the Lawson Family during this difficult time."

Lawson came to Tusculum after playing his prep career locally at Greeneville High School.

Arrangements will be announced later by Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home of Greeneville.
