2010-2011 Tusculum Men's Golf Schedule Released

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team has released its 2010-2011 schedule announced TC head coach Bob Dibble. The Pioneers are slated to play in 10 events, culminated by the South Atlantic Conference Championship in Conover, N.C. (Click for Schedule)

Tusculum returns seven lettermen from last year's squad that recorded five top 5 finishes, including team title honors at the Tusculum Fall Classic. Seniors Lawson George (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Luke Fullen (Greeneville, Tenn.) will lead a talented group for Coach Dibble in his 22nd season at Tusculum.

The Pioneers will open the season Sep. 13-14 at the Anderson University Invitational in Anderson, S.C. Host Anderson is entering its first season as a member of the South Atlantic Conference. TC, who finished fifth in this event last year, has won the Anderson Invitational on two occasions (2006, 2007).

On Sep. 18, Tusculum will travel to the Newberry College Holiday Fall Classic for the one-day, 36-hole event.

The Pioneers return home to host the Tusculum Fall Classic (Sep. 27-28) at Link Hills Country Club. The TC Classic, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary, has been won by the Pioneers in each of the previous four years. Rising sophomore David Talley (Bristol, Va.) captured medalist honors at the TC Classic with his two-under par 140.

On Oct. 18-19, the Pioneers will travel to Tazewell, Tenn. for the Lincoln Memorial University Invitational at Woodlake Golf Club to wrap up the fall portion of the schedule. Tusculum finished third last season, while Talley won his second individual title of his rookie campaign.

Tusculum opens spring play in Panama City, Fla. for the Outback Steakhouse Invitational, Feb. 7-8. The Pioneers finished 10th a year ago, led by George's 15th place showing. A month later, Tusculum steps back into action at the Richard Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C.

The Pioneers host the 18th annual Tusculum Invitational on Mar. 12-13 at Link Hills. Tusculum finished second at last year's event as Fullen posted back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish third, individually.

The Pioneers will take on Lincoln Memorial in the annual Tusculum/LMU Match Play event at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. on Mar. 26.

On Mar. 28-29, Tusculum will be at the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate in Charlotte, N.C., which will be the Pioneers final prep for the SAC Championship, which will be held at the Rock Barn Golf Club (Apr. 11-12). The Pioneers have enjoyed a very competitive history in the 11 previous SAC Championships they have challenged for. Tusculum has finished in the top half of the field in eight of the 11 previous championships, including eight of the last nine. Tusculum finished runner-up in the 2005 and 2007 SAC Championships and placed third in back-to-back years in 2002 and 2003. TC has finished fourth in the last two league championships.

The NCAA Division II Southeast/South Super Regional will be held May 2-4 in DeLand, Fla. at Victoria Hills Country Club. The NCAA National Championship will be conducted May 17-20 in Florence, Ala. at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at the Shoals.
