GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Michael Markiewicz has announced he will attend Tusculum College and play golf for the Pioneers announced TC men's coach Bob Dibble.
Markiewicz, a 5-8, 150-pound native of Chicago, Ill., will be joining the Pioneer program after playing his freshman campaign at the Queens University of Charlotte this past fall where he posted a 75.5 scoring average with the Royals. He tied for 33rd place at the Wasiota Winds Fall Kickoff Tournament (77-76-73=226), hosted by NCAA Division I Morehead State University.
"I'm looking forward to have Michael as part of our program," said Dibble. "He has a solid game and I feel he will be able to contribute immediately for us."
Markiewicz played his prep career at Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tenn. He tied for eighth place at last summer's Tennessee State Match Play Qualifier with a 74 to qualify for the event. He also tied for 12th place at the 2009 Holston Hills Invitational, carding 75-71=146.
Markiewicz captured medalist honors at the 2008 AJGA Preseason Junior at Texarkana with 74-75=149, which was played in adverse weather conditions. Also in 2008, he tied for second at the Junior Amateur Qualifier with a 74, held at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, the home course of Tusculum College golf. He followed with a 17th place showing at the Junior Amateur Championship, played at Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tenn.
Tusculum College is located in Greeneville, Tenn. and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA, is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference, which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
