Tusculum in seventh at SAC Men's Golf Championship

ETOWAH, N.C. --- The Tusculum College men's golf team is in seventh place at the halfway point of the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship, held Monday at the Etowah Valley Country Club & Resort. The start of Monday's opening 36-hole format was delayed due to frost and was shortened to 27 holes.

Tusculum posted an opening 308-151=459, but is still only 18 shots behind first round leader Lincoln Memorial University, who carded a 295-146=441. LMU leads by four shots over defending SAC Champion Newberry (299-149=448). Brevard College is third with 297-153=450, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne University 303-149=452, Wingate University 304-152=456, Carson-Newman College 301-156=457, Tusculum (459), Mars Hill College (312-158=470) and Catawba College 310-163=473.

Tusculum freshman Nick York posted 77-35=112 for his 27 holes and is tied for 11th place. Juniors Lawson George (75-39=114) and Luke Fullen (77-38=115) are 15th and 16th, respectively, while rookie David Talley is tied for 31st with 79-39=118. Senior Glenn Vicary rounds out the Tusculum scoring with his 80-40=120 and is tied for 37th.

The final 27 holes will be played on Tuesday.
