Men's Golf in 17th at Sawgrass Tournament

PONTE VERDE BEACH, Fla. --- Tusculum College freshman Nick York posted an opening round 74 and is tied for 22nd place at the Queens University of Charlotte Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the TPC Sawgrass Valley Course.

The Pioneers posted a team score of 314 and is in 17th place. Barton posted 288 and has a four-shot lead over Abilene Christian. Belmont Abbey is third with 292, followed by Flagler (293), Lander (295), Midwestern State (296), Queens (297), Mount Olive (298), Florida Southern (301), Georgia Southwestern (302), Wingate (306), Armstrong Atlantic (306), Carson-Newman (307), Anderson (307), St. Andrews (310), Catawba (310) and Tusculum (314).

Barton's Daniel Castleberry is the first round leader with his four-under par 68.

York rallied from a sluggish opening 40 on his front nine to shoot two-under 34 on his inward nine holes. David Talley carded a 77 and is tied for 49th, while Glenn Vicary is tied for 57th with his 78. Luke Fullen and Lawson George each posted an 85 and are tied for 86th.

The final round will be held on the par 72, 6,848-yard Pete Dye designed course.
