ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Chase Carroll, who set a conference record with his scoring average, became the third player in program history to be named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Year announced conference officials Sunday. The senior was also named the Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete for the third year in a row.
Carroll was honored with the awards Sunday night at Etowah Valley Country Club in Etowah, N.C., where the 2009 Food Lion SAC men's and women's golf championships are being held.
The Knoxville, Tenn. native averaged 71.9 strokes this season and had seven top-five finishes in the 10 events he competed in, including winning the Tusculum Fall Classic and Honda Columbia Fall Classic. He has a 3.89 GPA as a business management major and has been named to the Dean's List, President's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List and SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. In the community, Carroll volunteers with assisting the homeless, the "Empty Stocking Fund," and tutoring and mentoring at a local elementary school.
