BRISTOL, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's basketball team is listed sixth in this week's D2SIDA Southeast Region Media Poll.
The Pioneers (14-6, 14-4 SAC) remain sixth after having its two scheduled games last week postponed and rescheduled due to COVID protocols and Tusculum suspending team activities.
TU is one of four South Atlantic Conference programs listed in the top-10. The Pioneers received 21 points and are currently in third place in the SAC standings.
Queens University of Charlotte is the new top-ranked team as the Royals received four first place votes and 58 total points. UNC Pembroke was upset last week and drops to No. 2 as the Braves have 55 points with two first place votes. Lincoln Memorial climbed to third with 45 points, followed by Augusta (42), Flagler (38), Tusculum (21), Georgia College (21), Wingate (19), USC Aiken (19) and Emmanuel (8).
The D2SIDA Poll is for publicity purposes only and is not used in the selection process for the NCAA Division II postseason.
Tusculum will return to game action on Thursday when they travel to Harrogate to face nationally-ranked Lincoln Memorial for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Tex Turner Arena. Thursday's game will begin a frantic six-game stretch in nine days for the Black & Orange.
Following Thursday's LMU game, TU will return home this Saturday to host Coker for a 4 p.m. contest at Pioneer Arena. Next week, TU will travel to Limestone on Feb. 21, before hosting UVA Wise (Feb. 23) and Mars Hill (Feb. 24) in consecutive days. The Pioneers will close out the regular season Feb. 26 with a road trip to Anderson.
