Fagan scores career-high 20 in home loss to Queens

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Rob Lewis posted 19 points and five assists to lead the Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team to an 86-60 South Atlantic Conference win at Tusculum College Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Arena.

Queens (2-5, 2-2 SAC) finished the day shooting 53.4 percent from the floor, including 12-of-26 from three-point territory (46.2%). Tusculum (1-6, 1-3 SAC) shot a season-high 46.5 percent from the field, but committed 19 turnovers, resulting into 25 points for the Royals.

Tusculum sophomore Cory Fagan led all scorers with a career-high 20 points as he finished the game with four 3-pointers and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line to extend his streak to 16 consecutive made free throws to start the season.

The Royals' Sean Morgan added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Todd Withers contributed 15 points off the bench, including 4-for-5 shooting from three-point territory.

TC sophomore Zach Davis added 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Chase Mounce was limited to eight points and two rebounds, both season lows for the Pioneers' leading scorer and rebounder.

The Royals (2-5, 2-2 SAC) led wire-to-wire as they used a 13-2 run in the first half en route to taking a 40-26 lead into the locker room. Lewis scored 11 points in the first half, including his steal and three-pointer from half court at the buzzer to give Queens a 14-point advantage.

Queens scored the first buckets of the second half to take a 44-26 lead. TC trimmed the deficit to 15 points on several occasions, including a Davis' jumper with 13:39 remaining in the contest with the Royals leading 56-41.

But the Royals went on a 19-4 spurt over the next 5:22 to take a 75-45 advantage and put the game out of reach for the Pioneers.

Ten different Queens' players found their way into the scoring column as the Royals' recorded an assist on 23 of its 31 field goals.

Tusculum junior Johnathan Knight added six points, five rebounds and shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor. Juniors Ben Arnold and Matt Shown added four points each, while Taylor Hatfield rounded out the TC scoring with three markers and four assists.

Tusculum returns to action on Tuesday when the Pioneers travel to Bristol, Tennessee to take on King University for a 7 p.m. contest.
