Vest, Pioneers listed in NCAA basketball statistics

INDIANAPOLIS --- Tusculum College's Kevin Vest continues to be listed amongst nation's best free throw shooters in the country according to this week's NCAA Division II men's basketball statistics.

Vest, a senior guard from Dayton, Ohio, is shooting 87.1 percent from the charity stripe, which is 30th in the nation. His seasonal average is currently the fourth-best in TC single-season history. His .843 career free throw percentage is the fifth-best in Tusculum history and seventh in the South Atlantic Conference record book.

The Pioneers (11-15) own the 42nd-best team free throw percentage at 73.9, which is the second-best in the league this year. TC is also 53rd in field goal percentage (.471), 63rd in rebound margin (+3.3), 73rd in field goal percentage defense (.420), 77th in scoring defense (67.2 ppg) and 91st in assists per game (13.9 apg).

Tusculum ended the regular season with a three-game winning streak to tie for fifth place in the conference standings. The Pioneers will be the No. 7 seed in this year's Food Lion SAC Tournament and will travel to second-seeded Lincoln Memorial University this Wednesday night at 7 p.m. for a quarterfinal round contest in Harrogate, Tenn.

Tusculum and LMU met in last year's SAC Tournament semifinal, where the then top-seed Railsplitters edged TC 62-56.
