Tusculum listed in NCAA Men's basketball statistics

INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College men's basketball team is 14th in the nation in free throw percentage according to this week's NCAA Division II statistics.

The Pioneers (12-18) shot a school single-season record 77.3 percent from the foul line this season, going 494-of-639 at the charity stripe.

Tusculum is also 28th in the country in scoring defense, limiting the opposition to just 64.5 points per game, which is the best average in the South Atlantic Conference. TC held its opponents to under 60 points on nine occasions this year.

Senior forward Rob Troutman is 58th in the nation in free throw percentage, shooting a league-best 85 percent from the foul line, which is the fifth-best average in school history. Troutman, a 6-5, 205-pound native of Mt. Washington, Ky., wraps up his collegiate career shooting 74.8 percent from the stripe (229-306), including 79.5 percent in his last three seasons (221-278). The 2011 All-South Atlantic Conference Second Team honoree scored 1,008 points in his Tusculum career, making him only one of 22 players to scored over 1,000 points as a Pioneer. His career point tally is 20th in school history.

Junior guard Justin Steigerwald is 65th in assists per game, averaging 4.5 per contest, which is second in the conference. Steigerwald led the SAC this season in minutes played per game, averaging 37.6 per contest. During Tusculum's SAC Tournament run to the semifinal round, Steigerwald averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Tusculum finished fourth in the league standings this season, marking the third straight year the Pioneers have finished in the top half of the conference.
