INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College men's
basketball team continues to be listed in this week's NCAA Division
II men's basketball statistics. The Pioneers are ranked in four
team categories, while Kyle Moore and Justin Steigerwald and listed
individually in five statistical groups.
Moore, a 6-3, 190-pound senior guard from Gainesville, Fla., has
climbed to eighth in the nation in scoring, averaging 23.5 points
per contest, which is second in the South Atlantic Conference.
Moore's points per game average, is also the eighth-best in
Tusculum history and fourth in SAC history.
Moore has jumped to sixth in the country in three-point field goals made per game, averaging 3.68 treys per outing. The 2009 SAC Player of the Year is leading the conference in this category for a second straight year. Thru 22 games, Moore has already connected on 81 three-pointers, which is tied 10th most in conference history. Moore established a SAC single-season record last year with his 101 three-point field goals (in 31 games).
Moore is also 22nd in the nation, shooting 43.8 percent from three-point territory.
Steigerwald, a 6-3, 190-pound sophomore guard from Cincinnati,
Ohio, leads the SAC in assists per game, dishing out 5.05 helpers
per contest, which is 44th in the land. He is also 32nd in the
country in assist/turnover ratio (2.36), which is also the best in
the league.
As a team, the Pioneers are limiting the opposition to just 61.5
points per game, which is the best in the SAC and 18th in the
nation. Tusculum is 21st in three-point field goal percentage
defense (.295) and 22nd in three-point field goal percentage
(.402). The Pioneers have also climbed back into the national
rankings at the foul line as Tusculum is 38th in free throw
percentage (.733).
TC returns to action on Wednesday as the Pioneers host Wingate University for an 8 p.m. contest at Pioneer Arena.
