GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- JD
Miller has signed a national letter of intent to attend
Tusculum College and play basketball for the Pioneers announced TC
men's coach Jim Boone.
Miller, a 6-8, 240-pound post player from Versailles, Ky., comes
to Tusculum after playing his final two prep seasons at Woodford
County High School, where he was coached by Brad
Mefford.
In his final season with the Yellow Jackets, Miller averaged 12.5
points and seven rebounds per game. He also posted 1.7 assists, 1.4
steals and 1.6 blocks per outing. Miller helped anchor the No. 27
scoring defense in Kentucky as Woodford County allowed just 44.7
points per game.
Miller caught the attention of many colleges and universities last
summer, including Tusculum, as he shined for the Charlotte Court
AAU basketball team where he led his team with 12.2 points and 6.7
boards per contest.
"We like JD's strength and size and saw a lot of potential in his
12 to 16 foot jump shot," Boone said. "We were also impressed wit
his rapid improvement over the course of his senior season and
that's one of the things we are really excited about JD."
Miller was named to the District 41 All-Tournament Team. He was
also selected to the All-Tournament teams for the Pikeville
Invitational and the Jessamine County Holiday Tournament.
Tusculum is coming off one of its best seasons in school history.
The Pioneers posted a 20-11 record, while advancing to the NCAA
Division II Tournament for the second time in school history. TC
returns six of its top eight players from a year ago, including
All-America guard Kyle Moore, who was named the
2009 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year.
Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated
with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member
of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine
