INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College men's basketball
team continues to be listed in this week's NCAA Division II
statistics announced officials Tuesday.
The Pioneers (20-10) are in the NCAA II Tournament and are the No.
8 seed in this week's Southeast Regional in Augusta, Ga.
Tusculum is listed in three team categories, while Kyle
Moore and Ryan Troutman are mentioned a
combined seven times, individually.
TC is ninth in the nation in team free throw percentage, shooting
a sizzling 76.2 percent from the charity stripe, which is on pace
to shatter the school single-season record. The Pioneers are also
23rd in three-point field goal percentage (39.1%) and 26th in
scoring defense (63.9 ppg).
Moore, a 6-3 junior guard from Gainesville, Fla., leads the South
Atlantic Conference averaging 21 points per game, which is tops in
the league and 18th in the nation. Moore, the 2009 SAC Player of
the Year, is also 15th in the country in three-pointers made per
game (3.1), 31st in three-point percentage (40.3%) and 42nd in free
throw percentage (84.2%). The two-time All-Conference selection has
already established SAC season records for three-point field goals
(94) and free throws made (208).
Troutman, a 6-2 senior guard from Mt. Washington, Ky., is 11th in
the nation in assists per game, dishing out 6.2 helpers per
contest. His assist average this season is currently the seventh
best in conference history. The 2009 All-SAC Second Team selection
has recorded 185 assists this season which are tied for fourth in
Tusculum history and sixth in the conference record book. He enters
this year's NCAA Tournament with 331 assists in his 58-game career,
averaging 5.71 apg, which is second in the TC Record Book, but the
best in SAC history.
Troutman is also 20th in free throw percentage (87.7%) and 39th in
assist/turnover ratio (2.08). His average is currently second in
the South Atlantic Conference.
The Pioneers will begin their quest for a national championship
this Saturday night at 6 p.m. when Tusculum takes on top-seeded and
regional host Augusta State University (26-4, No. 4 in NCAA
Division II) at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
