INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College men's basketball
team continues to be listed in this week's NCAA Division II
statistics announced officials.
The Pioneers (18-9) have won 10 of their last 13 games and
finished tied for second place in the South Atlantic Conference.
Tusculum will be the No. 3 seed in this year's Food Lion SAC
Tournament and will host sixth-seed Wingate University Wednesday
night at 8 p.m. at Pioneer Arena. The winner of that game will
advance to Saturday's semifinal against the winner of the
Newberry/Mars Hill quarterfinal.
TC is listed in three team categories, while guards Kyle
Moore and Ryan Troutman and mentioned a
combined six times in this week's report.
Tusculum is 12th in the country in team free throw percentage,
shooting 75.6 percent from the foul line, which is tops in the
conference. TC is also 15th in the nation in three-point field goal
percentage (39.5%) and 32nd in scoring defense, allowing just 64.4
points per game.
Moore, a 6-3 junior from Gainesville, Fla., is 18th in the land in
scoring, averaging 21.1 points per game, which is the best in the
SAC. He is also 14th in the country in three-point field goals made
per game (3.3 avg.) and 29th in three-point field goal percentage
(40.6%).
Troutman, a 6-2 senior from Mt. Washington, Ky., is leading the
SAC in assists for a second straight year. He is dishing out 5.96
helpers per game, which is 16th in the country. He is also 17th in
free throw percentage (88%) and 48th in assist/turnover ratio
(2.01).
