MEN'S BASKETBALL RANKED SIXTH IN SOUTHEAST REGION POLL

INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College men's basketball team is listed sixth in this week's NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings announced officials Wednesday.

The Pioneers (17-7, 9-4 SAC) are one of four South Atlantic Conference teams listed in the rankings, including No. 7 Newberry College, No. 8 Catawba College and No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Tusculum and Lenoir-Rhyne are tied for first place in the league as Pioneers enter Wednesday's league tilt at Newberry.

Augusta State University takes over the top spot in the region, while USC Aiken and Armstrong Atlantic State University also move up a spot from last week. Georgia College & State University falls three spots to fourth, while Barton College moved up to spots to fifth. Tusculum is sixth, followed by Newberry, Catawba, Mount Olive College and Lenoir-Rhyne to round out the poll.

Three automatic berths to the NCAA Tournament in March will be awarded to the tournament champions of the SAC, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas. Five at-large berths will also be awarded for the Southeast Regional.

Following Wednesday's game at Newberry, Tusculum will travel to Brevard College on Saturday for the final regular season road game of the season for the Pioneers.
