INDIANAPOLIS --- The Tusculum College men's basketball
team is listed sixth in this week's NCAA Division II Southeast
Region rankings announced officials Wednesday.
The Pioneers (17-7, 9-4 SAC) are one of four South Atlantic
Conference teams listed in the rankings, including No. 7 Newberry
College, No. 8 Catawba College and No. 10 Lenoir-Rhyne
University.
Tusculum and Lenoir-Rhyne are tied for first place in the league
as Pioneers enter Wednesday's league tilt at Newberry.
Augusta State University takes over the top spot in the region,
while USC Aiken and Armstrong Atlantic State University also move
up a spot from last week. Georgia College & State University
falls three spots to fourth, while Barton College moved up to spots
to fifth. Tusculum is sixth, followed by Newberry, Catawba, Mount
Olive College and Lenoir-Rhyne to round out the
poll.
Three automatic berths to the NCAA Tournament in March will be
awarded to the tournament champions of the SAC, Peach Belt
Conference and Conference Carolinas. Five at-large berths will also
be awarded for the Southeast Regional.
Following Wednesday's game at Newberry, Tusculum will travel to
Brevard College on Saturday for the final regular season road game
of the season for the Pioneers.
