HICKORY, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Jordan Lear
and Kyle Moore have been named to the 2008 All-South Atlantic
Conference Men's Basketball Second Team announced league officials
at the SAC Awards Banquet held at the Catawba Valley Community
College Arena. Tusculum rookie forward Robert Troutman was also
named to the SAC All-Freshman Team.
Lear, a 6-7 senior forward from Zanesville, Ohio, led the
Pioneers in scoring (17.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg) this
season. Lear finished his career as Tusculum's sixth leading scorer
(1,550 pts.) and eighth leading rebounder (575 reb.) in school
history. Lear also finished amongst the conference leaders in field
goal percentage (50.9%), three-point percentage (43.5%) and
three-pointers made (70).
Moore, a 6-3 sophomore from Gainesville, Fla., earns a spot on the
All-SAC Team in his first Tusculum campaign. The Winthrop
University transfer led the South Atlantic Conference in
three-point field goals made (88) and was second free throw
percentage (84.5%). Moore finished second on the team in scoring
(16.6 ppg) and assists per game (4.00 apg).
Robert Troutman, a 6-5 freshman from Mt. Washington, Ky., provided
solid minutes off the bench as he played in all 28 games for the
Pioneers. The Bullitt East High School graduate averaged 2.3 points
and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 50 percent from the
floor.
Moore and Ryan Troutman also earned SAC statistical champion
honors on the evening. Moore was recognized for leading the league
in three-point field goals per game (5.21 apg), while Ryan Troutman
(Robert's older brother), a junior from Mt. Washington, Ky., led
the SAC in assists per game (5.11) and assist/turnover ratio
(2.06).
Tusculum posted a 13-15 record, including 6-8 in league play to
finish fifth in the conference. The Pioneers ended the season
strong winning four of their last five games and five of their last
seven.
