Five Pioneers named to NFF Hampshire Honor Society

IRVING, Texas --- Five Tusculum University student-athletes have been named to the 2023-24 National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society.

Earning recognition this year are Josh Curray, Mike McFayden, Andrae Robinson, Adrian Robinson and Chris Stevenson.

Curray, a long snapper from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, graduated last December with his Bachelor of Science degree while majoring in environmental science. He finished with a 3.79 cumulative grade point average and is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.

Curray was a two-time All-SAC Mountain Division choice and did not have a long snap blocked last fall while recording a pair of tackles in his 11 outings on special teams. He played in 32 career games and was credited with six career tackles. He was also named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® first team the last two years.

McFayden, a linebacker from Apopka, Florida, completed his first season at Tusculum last fall after playing the previous two campaigns at the University of West Florida. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree last December and finished with a 3.26 GPA while majoring in sports science. He is also a member of the TU Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

McFayden appeared in nine games in 2023 where he totaled 11 tackles including two for loss with a pair of quarterback hurries. He posted three tackles each in win over UVA Wise and Erskine. He posted a hit behind the line of scrimmage in both the Catawba and Erskine games. He was also credited with two tackles against Lenoir-Rhyne in the SAC Championship Game.

Andrae Robinson, a defensive back from Covington, Georgia, has a 3.90 GPA and is majoring in sport management. He is a member of the Tusculum President's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List, Dean's List, SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll. He is a two-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association's Academic Achievement Award and was named to the CSC Academic All-District® teams three times.

In 2023, Andrae totaled 21 tackles including two for loss, one sack and one interception. The 2022 All-SAC Mountain Division selection has made 53 tackles in his 31-game career which includes four interceptions and five pass break-ups.

Adrian Robinson, a defensive back from Covington, Georgia, is majoring in psychology and has a 3.91 GPA. Like his twin brother Andrae, is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, President's List, Charles Oliver Gray Honors List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a three-time CSC Academic All-District® honoree.

In his 10 outings in the secondary, Adrian was credited with 19 tackles and forced a fumble. For his 32-game career, he tallied 59 tackles, two for loss, forced two fumbles and posted three interceptions.

Stevenson, a linebacker from Knoxville, Tennessee, graduated from Tusculum in December with his Bachelor of Science degree. He accounted for a 3.27 GPA while majoring in sports science and is a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Stevenson competed in three seasons at TU where he played in 23 games including nine this past fall where he logged seven tackles including one sack and four QB hurries. He made a season-high three tackles with a sack against Barton. He also made two tackles in the season-opener at Kennesaw State. He finished with 50 career tackles including four for loss with two sacks.

To qualify for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, a student-athlete must: be a starter or significant reserve in one's last year of eligibility at an accredited NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university; achieve a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout the entire course of undergraduate study; and meet all NCAA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
