NASHVILLE --- Tusculum College quarterback Bo Cordell has been named the Tennessee Sportswriters Association (TSWA) Offensive Football Player of the Week announced officials Tuesday. Cordell earns the State college football player of the week award for the third time this season.

Cordell, a graduate student from Cincinnati, Ohio, broke the NCAA Division II record for career passing yards in Tusculum's 41-33 loss to Wingate on Saturday. Cordell went 32-for-55 for 349 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 15,049 career yards, surpassing the previous record of 14,733 held by West Liberty's Zach Amedro. His career passing yardage tally is also the fifth-best for all NCAA divisions (FBS, FCS, II, III).

Saturday's 349-yard performance marked the 28th time in his 43-game career that he has thrown for over 300 yards.

In 2013, Cordell leads the South Atlantic Conference in total passing yards (2704 - 5th in NCAA II), passing yards per game (338 ypg - 5th in NCAA II), passing efficiency (146.8 - 29th in NCAA II), passing touchdowns (17 - 30th in NCAA II) and total offense (347.6 ypg - 7th in NCAA II).

His 2,704 passing yards this year are seventh-most in school history, going 204-for-325 with only five interceptions.

Cordell is now in pursuit of the NCAA II total offensive yardage record. His 15,197 total offensive yards are the third most in DII history and ninth for all NCAA divisions. He is 867 total offensive yards behind East Stroudsburg's Jimmy Terwilliger, who compiled 16,064 from 2003-2006.

Cordell and the Pioneers (3-5) travel to UNC Pembroke this Saturday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff against the 19th-ranked Braves (6-1).
