LEESBURG, Va. --- Tusculum College long-snapper Skylar West has been named to the 2012 Beyond Sports Network Division II All-America Football first team announced officials Wednesday.
West, a 6-5, 240-pound senior from Oneida, Tenn. (Oneida HS), earns BSN All-America honors for a second time in his career, after garnering second team accolades in 2011.
The four-time All-South Atlantic Conference first team honoree played in all 11 games this year as he was perfect on all 55 of his long snaps on the TC punt team, while also recording six tackles on special teams. In his collegiate career, only two punts were blocked of his 192 career long snaps.
West becomes only the seventh player in program history to earn All-America honors in multiple years, joining former TC greats: Eric Claridy (1994, 1995); Paul Czerniak (2000, 2001), Donald Amaker (2001, 2002), Alan Dunn (2002, 2003), Jarrell NeSmith (2008, 2009) and Deonte' Gist (2010, 2011).
West is majoring in sports science and is a member of the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
