Tusculum white defeats TC black 49-31 in football spring game

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Bo Cordell passed for 209 yards and three touchdowns to lead the White squad to a 49-31 win over TC Black in the 2011 Tusculum College football spring game, held Thursday night at the TC Indoor Practice Facility.

The Tusculum offense comprised with White team, while the defense made up the TC Black roster. A modified scoring system was used with the offense recording seven points for a touchdown. The defense recorded points by various methods including stops on three and out, turnovers and fourth down stops.

Cordell (Cincinnati, Ohio) went 21-for-29 (72.4%), including five tosses to Rashaad Carter (Stone Mountain, Ga.) as he recorded 35 receiving yards, including a pair of touchdowns. Michael Rodriquez (Columbia, S.C.) made six receptions for 69 yards, while Deonte' Gist (Wellford, S.C.) added five catches for 61 yards.

But the top scorer of the night was running back Brian Marshall (Chattanooga, Tenn.) as he scored three touchdowns (2 rush, 1 catch). Marshall hauled in 30-yard touchdown on his lone reception of the game, while rushing for scores covering 36 yards and a one-yard run.

Defensively, junior linebacker Ramsey Iapala (San Diego, Calif.) led the charge with four sacks, while All-Region defensive end Terrence Smith (Riverdale, Ga.) also tallied four sacks for the Black squad. Joshua Davis (Atlanta, Ga.), Kennedy Emebunor (Nashville, Tenn.), Brian Alexander (Union Point, Ga.) and Nicolas Smith (Seymour, Tenn.) each accounted for a pair of sacks.

Quarterback Kyle Dickey (McDonough, Ga.) went 5-for-10 for 60 yards and a touchdown, while Torrey Slaven (Winfield, Tenn.) passed for 69 yards, going 3-for-6, including a touchdown.

Johnathan Diliberto (Lexington, Ky.) hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass, while Bryce Whaley (Sevierville, Tenn.) tallied a 23-yard TD reception.

Tusculum wraps up its spring season in preparation for the 2011 season-opener with West Georgia on Sept. 3.
