Tusculum football opens spring practice Tuesday

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College football team will open its spring camp on Tuesday announced head coach Frankie DeBusk.

The Pioneers are allowed to have 15 practices in 30 days from the start of the first day per NCAA regulations. This week's first two practices will be in helmets only.

There will be three scrimmages culminated with the team's annual spring game, which is tentatively slated for Thursday, March 3rd at 6:30 p.m. TC's first scrimmage is schedule for this Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

The Pioneers are slated to return several key players from last year's squad that boasted the No. 1 passing attack in the country, including All-Americans Bo Cordell, Michael Rodriquez and Deonte' Gist. All-Region defensive end Terrence Smith will anchor the defensive front for the Pioneers, while two-time All-South Atlantic Conference long-snapper Skylar West will provide leadership for the special teams.

Tusculum is scheduled to open the 2011 season on Sept. 3rd when it hosts West Georgia at the Niswonger Sports Complex and Pioneer Field.
