Former football All-American Ricardo Colclough elected to SAC Hall of Fame

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Former Tusculum College football All-American Ricardo Colclough has been elected to the South Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame announced Commissioner Patrick Britz Wednesday.

The Class of 2009-2010 includes Colclough, former Wingate University men's basketball player Lorinza 'Junior" Harrington, former Elon University head football coach Jerry Tolley and former Lenoir-Rhyne University men's basketball player Daniel Willis.

The class will be inducted into the SAC Hall of Fame as part of the South Atlantic Conference Annual Meeting in Asheville, N.C., on June 3. The banquet will be held at the Biltmore Doubletree Hotel with a reception at 6:15 p.m. with dinner and inductions at 7 p.m.

Colclough enjoyed one of the finest football seasons in SAC history in 2003, helping lead the Pioneers to a 9-2 record and earning consensus All-America honors from six organizations. He was named the 2003 Football Gazette National Defensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, which recognizes the most outstanding football player in Division II.

He was selected the 2003 SAC Defensive Player of the Year and 2003-04 SAC Male Athlete of the Year. He holds 12 school records, including longest kickoff return, longest punt return, career interceptions and career passes defended.

Colclough was considered one of the nation's top cornerbacks and was a second-round draft pick, the 38th pick overall, in the 2004 NFL Draft. Colclough became the highest-drafted player in SAC history. His six-year NFL career includes stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs. He has played in six NFL playoff contests, including Pittsburgh's 21-10 victory over Seattle in Super Bowl XL.

Colclough becomes the second Tusculum student-athlete to earn a spot in the SAC Hall of Fame. He joins former Tusculum tennis great Lesley Murray, who was inducted to the League Hall of Fame last June. Both Colclough and Murray were inducted to the Tusculum Sports Hall of Fame this past fall.

Colclough's induction will bring the list of Tusculum legends in the SAC Hall of Fame up to three. Former Tusculum Athletic Director Ed Hoffmeyer was a member of the 2007-08 induction class.

Willis, who starred on the Lenoir-Rhyne basketball court from 1998-2001, also has ties to Tusculum College. He served as an assistant coach on the Pioneer basketball staff during the 2004-05 campain as he helped the Pioneers to an 18-11 record to capture the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament title and advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in school history.
