Head coach Frankie DeBusk, who is entering his 13th season at Tusculum, was pleased with the emotion and enthusiasm shown in the 105-play scrimmage, but says they team has to work hard to improve.

"There were some bright spots in Sunday's scrimmage, one of which was the positive energy we showed," said DeBusk. "But we still have a lot to do for us to get to the level we need to be at."

Quarterback Bo Cordell (Cincinnati, Ohio), who posted one of the best freshman campaigns in school history last fall, went 22-for-30 and three touchdowns. Cordell's top target on the day was receiver Calvin Britt (Augusta, Ga.), who hauled in six receptions, including two for touchdowns. Deonte' Gist (Wellford, S.C.) added five grabs, while Michael Rodriguez (Columbia, S.C.) and Rashaad Carter (Stone Mountain, Ga.) tallied four and three receptions, respectively. Carter first catch of the day was a TD toss from Cordell to start the scrimmage.

The running backs also had a fine scrimmage, led by Fred Jones (Appling, Ga.) who rushed for a pair of touchdowns.

On defense, nose guard Fred Walker (Danville, Calif.) was most impressive as he recorded three sacks in the scrimmage. Linebacker Mason Fowler (Dacula, Ga.) added four tackles and a sack, while defensive end Jermaine Jennings (Duncan, S.C.) added three stops and a sack. The trio of Travaris Kemp, Kent Aigbe (Antioch, Tenn.) and Rashaun Harris (Gaffney, S.C.) accounted for three tackles each for the Pioneers.
