GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College has announced it has added a game to its 2008 football schedule. The Pioneers will face Gardner-Webb University on Sep. 6th in Boiling Springs, N.C. at 6 p.m., announced Tusculum athletic director and head coach Frankie DeBusk.
With the addition of Gardner-Webb, the Pioneers have completed their 11-game schedule, which will kickoff Aug. 30 when Tusculum hosts the University of Charleston (W.Va.) at Pioneer Field.
Tusculum and Gardner-Webb have met three previous times, including its last encounter in 1999 when the two squared off in a South Atlantic Conference contest, with the Runnin' Bulldogs coming out on top, 24-21.
GWU posted a 5-6 record last season, while finishing third in the Big South Conference (NCAA Football Championship Subdivision).
After starting the season 0-3, Tusculum rebounded by winning six of its last eight contests, including 4-2 in the league, tying for second place in the South Atlantic Conference.
Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
