ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College's Jeremy Thompson and John Gregory have been named the South Atlantic Conference Football Players of the Week announced league officials Monday. Thompson was named SAC Defensive Player of the Week, while Gregory garnered Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Thompson earns this award for a second straight week, while Gregory is honored for a second time this year.
Thompson, a 6-0, 200-pound junior defensive back from Rome, Ga., recorded a team-high 11 tackles in Tusculum's 31-16 league win over Lenoir-Rhyne College. Thompson finished with six solo hits, including a sack that caused a fumble. He also broke up a pass and recorded a quarterback hurry.

Gregory averaged 48.2 yards on his five punts, including a career-best 76-yarder, the third longest punt in school history. The Preseason All-American is averaging 41 yards per punt this season, which is second in the conference.

The SAC Football Players of the Week are selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
