2007 TUSCULUM COLLEGE FOOTBALL SCHEDULE RELEASED

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Eleven games, including five home contests, highlight the 2007 Tusculum college football schedule announced College officials Monday.

The Pioneers will be on the road for the first three weeks of the season, including the Aug. 25 opener at the University of Charleston (W.Va.). It will be the first-ever meeting between Tusculum and the Golden Eagles.

On Sep. 1, Tusculum will play another first-time opponent as the Pioneers travel to Lynchburg, Va. to face NCAA Division I-AA Liberty University. A week later, Tusculum will wrap up its three-game road swing at the University of North Alabama (Sep. 8).

Tusculum begins a three-game home-stand on Sep. 15, when TC hosts Saint Paul's College at Pioneer Field. Tusculum defeated the Tigers 28-0 in last season's inaugural meeting.

Following an open date, Tusculum opens South Atlantic Conference play on Sep. 29 when the Pioneers entertain Wingate University. The Bulldogs will be the first of six SAC games this season.

Lenoir-Rhyne College will be Tusculum's homecoming opponent on Oct. 6 at Pioneer Field. The Pioneers were the Bears' homecoming adversary this past season in Hickory, N.C. as TC prevailed 17-10.

Tusculum steps away from conference action Oct. 13 to take on Brevard College. The Pioneers defeated the Tornadoes 33-0 last year in Brevard.

The Pioneers host Catawba College on Oct. 20 in Greeneville. Tusculum claimed a thrilling 21-20 victory last year in Salisbury, N.C.

Tusculum travels to Newberry College on Oct. 27 to take on the defending SAC Champions. Newberry pulled of a miraculous 27-23 win over Tusculum in the final minute of last year's encounter.

The Pioneers will play its regular season home finale on Nov. 3 against cross-mountain foe Mars Hill College. TC has won four in a row over its cross-mountain rival, including last year's 24-17 decision at Mars Hill.

The regular season comes to an end on Nov. 10 against arch-rival Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City. Tenn. The Eagles won last year's meeting 23-3 and will host Tusculum for the first time in refurbished Burke-Tarr Stadium. The Tusculum/Carson-Newman football rivalry is the second oldest in the State of Tennessee (1904).

Tusculum opened its spring practice last week and will host its annual Spring Game at Pioneer Field on March 24.

Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
