Cheerleading Announces 2015 Tryout Dates
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College cheerleading coach Jessica Inscore has announced the tryout dates for the 2015-16 Pioneer cheerleading and spirit squads.

The tryouts will take place on Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 in the Niswonger Student Commons auxiliary gym. Friday's session will begin at 5 p.m. and conclude at approximately 9 p.m. That night, participating students will learn the fight song, a new cheer and chant. Saturday's events will begin at 8 a.m. when participating students will be judged on the new cheers they were taught on the previous night.

All events are closed to the public and final cuts will be made on the 25th. A team meeting will take place with those invited to join the team at 2 p.m. Anyone wishing to try out earlier on an official campus visit must contact Coach Inscore by April 3, 2015.

Those wanting to try out must have the following completed to qualify for a scholarship: An acceptance letter from Tusculum if you are an incoming student, a complete copy of a recent physical signed by a physician, the Tusculum College medical release form found on the cheerleading page of the athletics web site, insurance card or a copy of it, the tryout fee of $25 (cash or checks made payable to Tusculum Cheerleading), and you must wear black shorts with and orange shirt with socks and tennis shoes.

Requirements for cheerleading tryouts include: Fight song, extension-full down, liberty, optional stunt, cheer, back handspring or back tuck, chant, and tumbling pass. Spirit squad requirements include fight song, cheer, toe touch, and a strong dance background. Anyone trying out for the mascot must come prepared with a short skit.

Anyone traveling from out of town can find hotel accommodation info in the team host manual under athletic info on www.TusculumPioneers.com.

Those wishing to submit a video must include: a cheer incorporating jump, stunt, or standing tumbling, a three-jump sequence, back handspring or standing back tuck, examples of your stunting ability (base-flyer-back spot), basket toss, any additional skills you would like to showcase, and a brief video of why you would be an asset to the Pioneer program.
