PEMBROKE, N.C. --- The Tusculum baseball team moved up one spot and is ranked fifth in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II Southeast Region Poll.
The Pioneers (21-10, 13-5 South Atlantic Conference) received 62 total points after going 2-2 last week as Tusculum has won 12 of its last 14 contests.
North Georgia is the new No. 1 team in the region after receiving 139 total points and eight first place votes. Mount Olive is second with 137 points and five first place nods. Catawba is third with 118 points and one first place, while USC Aiken is fourth with 102 points and a first place tally. Tusculum is fifth, followed by Flagler (58), North Greenville (52), Georgia College (33), Belmont Abbey (31) and Erskine (29).
The Pioneers are currently in sole possession of second place in the league standings.
Tusculum is scheduled to play five games this week. The Pioneers will travel to Young Harris on Tuesday before going to Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday for a mid-week non-conference game. TC returns home this weekend to host third-ranked Tampa for a three-game series on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
