MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- Tusculum College junior Vinny Ferrara has been named to the 2014 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Baseball First Team as selected by members of D2SIDA, the NCAA II Sports Information Directors Association.

Ferrara, who was named the first team utility player, advances to the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America ballot, which will be announced this Friday (May 23).

The Ocean Township, N.J. product appeared in 47 games, including 46 starts where he saw action at second base and the outfield. Ferrara batted .302 this season with 49 hits, including five doubles, one triple and a home run. For his efforts, he was named to the All-South Atlantic Conference second team in 2014 at second base.

He scored 42 runs while also leading the SAC with a dozen sacrifice bunts, which are the 18th most in the country. He also led the team in being hit by a pitch 10 times, which was tied for sixth most in the conference.

In 2014, he recorded 14 multiple hit games while finishing with 28 RBI.

During his 94-game career at Tusculum, Ferrara owns a .322 batting average, amassing 11 doubles, two triples and a home run with 46 RBI. His 15 career sacrifice bunts are tied for the ninth most in school history.

Tusculum won five of its last six games to finish 2014 with a 31-21 record for its 15th consecutive winning season and 12th straight 30-win campaign. TC also completes a 22-5 record at Pioneer Park this year, marking the third straight season with 20 home wins and seventh since 2002. The 22 home wins are the third most in program history.
