ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College will be the No. 5 seed at the 2014 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Baseball Tournament and will face second-seeded Wingate University in a first round game this Thursday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. The six-team, double-elimination tournament is being held at McNair Field in Forest City, N.C.

Tusculum has qualified for the SAC Baseball Tournament in each of the program's 15 seasons as a member of the South Atlantic Conference.

The Pioneers will be vying for their fourth SAC Tournament title in program history. TC has won the SAC Tournament in 2005, 2008 and 2012.

Catawba College will be the No. 1 seed in this year's tournament, having claimed a share of the SAC Championship with Wingate. Lincoln Memorial University will be the No. 3 seed, Newberry College the No. 4 seed and Anderson University will be the sixth seed.

Catawba and Anderson will open the SAC Tournament on Thursday at noon, followed by Tusculum and Wingate at 3:45 p.m. and the LMU/Newberry game at 7:30 p.m. to close out day one action.

The winner of the Tusculum/Wingate game will face the winner of the LMU/Newberry contest on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The loser of the TC/Wingate game will play the loser of the Catawba/Anderson contest on Friday at noon in an elimination game.

This will mark the 12th time Tusculum and Wingate have met in the SAC Tournament. The Pioneers are 9-2 all-time in the SAC postseason against the Bulldogs, including six straight victories dating back to 2005. The last time TC and Wingate met in the SAC Tournament was in the 2012 championship game, won by the Pioneers.

The SAC Tournament will run through Sunday where the championship game is slated to start at 1 p.m. The winner of the tournament will earn the league's automatic berth to next month's NCAA Division II Tournament.
