Collins, Finger named to SAC Baseball All-Tournament Team

FOREST CITY, N.C. --- Tusculum College's Tyler Collins and Paul Finger have been named to the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Baseball All-Tournament Team announced league officials Sunday at McNair Field, the host site of this year's tournament.

Collins, a junior right-handed pitcher from Snellville, Ga., pitched a complete game victory in Tusculum's 3-1 win over Mars Hill College in the Pioneers' tournament opener. Collins scattered eight hits, walked one and posted six strikeouts to improve to 6-1 on the season. Collins, a 2010 All-SAC Second Team pitcher, led the TC pitching corps that posted a 1.04 team earned run average during its three games in the SAC Tournament.

Finger, a senior third baseman from Lincolnton, N.C., earned a spot on the SAC All-Tournament for a remarkable fourth consecutive year. Finger batted .400 (4-for-10) during the tournament, including two homeruns, two runs scored, four RBI and a walk. He also posted a 1.000 slugging percentage in his last three contests.

Catawba College's Ryan Bostian was named the 2010 SAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Indians to their second straight tournament crown by going 4-0, including Sunday's wins over Lincoln Memorial University and Mars Hill.

Catawba placed five players on the All-Tournament squad, including Craige Lyerly, Nick Lomascolo, Clay Watson and Wil Huneycutt. Mars Hill had four selections that included Devin Presnell, Kris Torrance, Kevin Searcy and Justin Hall.

LMU's Cody Baker, Joseph Horsley and Austin Johnson, also joined Carson-Newman College's Ryan Fillers and Wesley Dozier on the SAC All-Tournament squad. Wingate University's Chris Nelson rounds out the All-Tournament team.

The Pioneers (30-18) close out their season next weekend as they travel to Mount Olive College for a three-game series against the nationally-ranked Trojans. The series begins with Saturday's 4 p.m. doubleheader in Mt. Olive, N.C.
