GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's beach volleyball team swept the Senior Day doubleheader over Gaston College on Tuesday (Mar. 26).
In between matches, the program honored its senior members: Charlyn Miller, Diana Bierwagen, Emily Venable, Morgan Browne, Morgan Pacione, Olivia Browne, and Katie McLamb.
Tusculum (13-8) has time to prepare for its next tournament, the Scenic City Showdown (Apr. 5-6). The Pioneers are scheduled to face the likes of Carson-Newman, Austin Peay, Chattanooga, and Jacksonville State.
Match 1: Tusculum 5, Gaston 0
The Pioneers blanked the Rhinos in the first meeting, with only one flight going to a third set.
Morgan Pacione and Kassidy Mercado got the scoring at No. 5 with a 21-2, 21-7 blowout.
Charlyn Miller and Katie McLamb followed soon after with a 21-6, 21-8 victory at the 4's.
Riley Rushing and Hannah Marsh tallied a 21-10, 21-9 result as the 3's.
The top flight of Olivia Browne and Morgan Browne doubled up their opposites 21-8, 21-12.
The final point came at No. 2, with Brynn Smith and Kyla Oppenhuis winning in three sets: 21-9, 16-21, 15-10.
Match 2: Tusculum 4, Gaston 1
The Rhinos fought back at No. 2 to claim a point in the doubleheader, avoiding the clean sweep.
McLamb and Miller won quickly with a 21-3, 21-6 result at No. 4.
Diana Bierwagen and Emily Venable stepped in as the 5's, winning their matchup 21-16, 21-6.
At No. 3, Rushing and Marsh recorded a 21-17, 21-13 decision.
The Browne twins finished strong with a 21-19, 21-12 victory.
Smith and Oppenhuis took the loss by scores of 18-21, 21-16, 10-15 as the 2's.
