Dr. Nick Davidson was appointed as Tusculum University's faculty athletic representative in August 2023 by Dr. Scott Hummel, TU President.

The Tusculum faculty athletic representative (FAR) is a member of the faculty or administrative staff who is designated by the president to represent the institution and its faculty in the institution's relationships with the NCAA and the South Atlantic Conference. The FAR is active in maintaining the academic integrity within the athletics program, assisting with the overall student-athlete well-being as well as assists with the institutional control of the athletics program.

Davidson joined the Tusculum faculty as an assistant professor of Sport Management in 2021. Within this role, Davidson also serves as the Chair of the Department of Sport Management and is the faculty advisor for the Tusculum eSports Club. While at Tusculum, Davidson has taught several courses ranging from Communication in Sport to Legal Issues in Sport. He has published multiple articles and given several conference presentations on sport media, sport consumer, and sport organizational behavior related topics.

Prior to coming to Tusculum, Davidson completed his PhD in Sport Management at Florida State University in 2021, where he served as a graduate teaching assistant. While at FSU, Davidson taught multiple classroom-based courses, as well as physical activity courses.

Davidson earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management degree from West Virginia University in 2016 and added his Master of Science in Sport Management degree in 2018 from WVU.

While at WVU, Davidson was a student assistant within the Athletic Communications office. He assisted with day-to-day and game day media relations duties for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and all other varsity level sports as needed. On game days, Davidson assisted the Athletic Communications staff with the coordinating of media, interviewing of players, press box spotting, and tracking of in-game statistics. Davidson served as a feature story writer in game day programs for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.  He also served as the public address announcer for men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, wrestling, women’s tennis, and baseball.

Nick and his wife, Katherine, live in Johnson City, Tennessee and they are avid travelers who enjoy the outdoors and all that the beautiful landscape of East Tennessee has to offer. Nick is a dedicated fan of FSU, WVU and Tusculum athletics, and is proud to serve the Pioneer community within the FAR role.
