Basketball home game promotions announced

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University has announced the game promotions for the remainder of its 2023-2024 home basketball schedule.

The Pioneers have nine (9) remaining home doubleheaders against South Atlantic Conference competition.

Tusculum will host arch-rival Carson-Newman on Dec. 13 for Youth Sports Night. Youth members who participate youth basketball and cheerleading programs with the Greene County YMCA, Boys and Girls Club, along with Greeneville and Greene County elementary and middle school programs will be admitted free when wearing their team jersey or uniform to the Dec. 13 game between the Pioneers and Eagles.

One month later on Jan. 13, Tusculum will host Limestone for Canned Food Drive Night. Fans donating 5 or more non-perishable food items will be admitted for to both games with the Saints. All food donations will be donated to the University's Civic Advancement Food Pantry.

Tusculum will host its annual Make-A-Wish Night on Jan. 17 when the Pioneers host Emory & Henry. The Pioneers will be collecting proceeds to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the chosen philanthropy of the Pioneer Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and NCAA Division II.

On Jan. 20, Tusculum welcomes Catawba for Church Appreciation Day as all churches in Greeneville and Greene County will be recognized at the doubleheader, with special group rates available for church groups wishing to attend.

Tusculum opens the month of February with its Black Out Game against Newberry on Feb. 3, followed by the TU Orange Out game a week later against Wingate (Feb. 10).

Tusculum will host it's popular "Pack the Arena Night" on Feb. 21 when they welcome in-state foe Lincoln Memorial for a doubleheader. The women's game on the 21st will also be Tusculum's Play-4-Kay Game which raises awareness and raises funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Foundation. Fans are encouraged to wear Pink for the Feb. 21 doubleheader.

On Feb. 24, the Tusculum women's basketball team will have its Senior Day when they host Coker. Also on the 24th, the men's team will host the second annual Play 4 Kell Game. The "Play for Kell" initiative honors the life of Ja'Kell Johnson, the daughter of Stanley and Twilla Johnson, the brother of Quamane Johnson and the niece of Tusculum head coach J.T. Burton. Ja'Kell was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2018 and battled the disease valiantly for four years before passing away in 2021. Her long and brave battle with cancer sparked the social trend amongst the Pioneer basketball program, #FightForKell.

On Feb. 28, the Tusculum men's team, along with the TU cheerleaders, will host their Senior Night when the Pioneers host UVA Wise for a SAC doubleheader.
