Jordan, Burrowes named Applebee's Student-Athletes of the Month

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University basketball guard Connor Jordan and volleyball outside hitter Emiah Burrowes have been named the Applebee's Student-Athletes of the Month for November. Burrowes earns her second Athlete of the Month honor this season.

Jordan, a senior from Morristown, Tennessee, averaged 14.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game as he helped the Pioneers to a 2-3 record in November which included four games against teams who advanced to last year's NCAA Division II Tournament.

He opened the season with 22 points in Tusculum's 83-77 win over Lander. He later added another 22-point performance in Tusculum's 81-80 upset win over nationally-ranked UNC Pembroke. He hit the game-winning jumper with 2.6 seconds left in the win over the No. 8/24 Braves as Tusculum rallied from a 19-point deficit. He closed out the month with 18 points at Lees-McRae.

Burrowes, a senior from Wesley Chapel, North Carolina, had a banner month in November as she led the Pioneers to a perfect 6-0 record, including 3-0 to win the program its first South Atlantic Conference Tournament title. For the month, she averaged 4.52 kills, 3.19 digs, 0.29 blocks and 0.24 service aces per set while hitting .261 as Tusculum finished third in the SAC regular season before making their monumental run through the conference postseason.

Burrowes posted a season-high 20 kills and hit .357 in a three-set sweep over Mars Hill to close out the regular season for the Pioneers. She followed with 19 kills, 13 digs and two aces in a five-set win over Catawba in the SAC Quarterfinal. She notched 18 kills, 13 digs and hit .341 in a three-set sweep of Anderson in the SAC Semifinal. Burrowes tallied 16 kills and a dozen digs in TU's 3-1 victory over top-seed Wingate to claim the SAC Tournament crown. For her efforts, Burrowes was named the SAC Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Burrowes earned All-Southeast Region and All-SAC first team honors as the Pioneers earned a berth to the NCAA II Tournament and finished the season with an impressive 22-7 record. Burrowes ended the year averaging 3.61 kills, 2.58 digs and notched a .224 attack percentage for 2023.
